In this video, Dr. Stephens discusses discontinuous pulmonary arteries and its repair. This is a very rare condition in which one of the pulmonary arteries is not connected to the heart in the normal manner. Dr. Stephens explains the condition and shows operative video footage of a technique recreating the pulmonary artery using the baby’s own tissue (from the main pulmonary artery). Dr. Stephens is a congenital and pediatric cardiac surgeon at Mayo Clinic. Please be advised that this video contains graphic footage of surgery.
